Choosing your Dating Service
The first thing you will want to do is choose you're dating service or services. All sites have a target audience, whether it is people looking for love, looking for a date, Christian dating sites or even pure sex dating sites and all that it entails. Try to find a site that focuses on what you are looking for.
Creating your profile
Remember now, you are marketing yourself to other singles; put your best foot forward. Don't be shy. Tell people about what make you a good partner and don't talk at all about what doesn't, people will get to know that side when they get to know you ; )
If you can I have to advise you to add a picture. A picture usually helps a lot. Many people only talk to people with pictures as you can get a more intimate connection. Also you often are highlighted in searches if you have uploaded a picture.
Learn the dating service you are using
All sites for dating on line are different. They are usually similar but every site has something that makes them unique. Take a break from everything and spend 10 minutes learning your service. Is there any other ways to promote yourself. Which are the different ways you can find a potential partner and what services are free and what is restricted for paying members.
Finding a date
Now the fun part begins. Now that you know how to use your dating service, use their tools for finding potential partners. Go through the list and contact those that seem interesting to you. Make sure that the people you contact actually want the same things as you and are looking for someone like yourself. For example if you are a middle aged man and find a middle aged woman who is looking for a 18 year old girl you are wasting your time. Move on to someone who is looking for the same thing you are.
After spending some time on this you will hopefully have found some interesting people. Now all you can do is wait. Hopefully some of your potential partners will answer your message. This can often take a few days so don't fret if you don't get a dozen answers within 20 minutes, if you get one in the first 20 minutes you are very lucky ; ).
Taking the step to real life.
Start chatting with people and see if they are anything for you. Once you have found someone who you like and maybe would like to meet, dare to take the step! For many people this is a very scary step. People often get nervous and think: What if I'm not as interesting in real life as I am behind the computer? Don't! You are looking for something substantial and meeting in real life is the only way to get it, if it doesn't work out you can start chatting with someone else.
Something to think about when meeting someone
Be sure to meet the person in a crowded place. Sadly all the people dating on line aren't noble. Before going off alone, meet the person a few times. Once you have found someone you like, go for it! Don't hold back.
